The Vancouver Whitecaps began selling tickets for the 2027 MLS sprint season after extending their BC Place lease through the condensed schedule.

The Vancouver Whitecaps say they will play the 2027 MLS “sprint season” at BC Place after reaching an agreement to extend their lease at the stadium through the sprint campaign.
The club began selling tickets for the 2027 sprint season on Tuesday, with the condensed schedule running from February through May. Under MLS’s format for the sprint season, the league’s 30 teams play a 14-game regular season followed by single-elimination playoffs.
MLS will then move to a summer-to-spring calendar starting in July 2027. Whitecaps chief executive officer Axel Schuster said the lease extension is intended to support ticket sales for that period while the club continues working toward a longer-term solution for its stadium situation.
“(The extension) should only be a tool, and it should only be the paper that allows us to go out with ticket sales,” Schuster said, adding that the club would continue working on “how a longer-term agreement should and could look like that is improving our situation.”
Schuster said the club’s ability to generate revenue has been limited in part because it does not own BC Place, and that factor has made it difficult to attract buyers who would keep the team in Vancouver. BC Place is a 55,000-seat venue owned and operated by PavCo, a provincial Crown corporation.
The Whitecaps have been up for sale since December 2024, and officials from the club and MLS have held multiple meetings with representatives of the municipal, provincial and federal governments, as well as leaders of three local First Nations, to discuss the team’s future.
As part of Tuesday’s announcement, the Whitecaps said some season ticket members may see their current seat prices increase for next season as new premium sections are released. The club described two new stadium hospitality options: the “Tunnel Club,” offering access to a new hospitality suite with all-inclusive food and two complimentary beverages, along with the ability to watch players walk out to the field; and “Creekside Terrace,” which the team said provides an “all-inclusive premium hospitality experience” with views of Vancouver’s False Creek alongside the game.
Schuster said that some seats associated with the new sections include seats currently held by ticket members, and the prices for those seats will rise, adding that the seat “is now a premium product” because of renovations and the premium areas built into the stadium.
The Whitecaps also announced that star midfielder Thomas Muller has signed a contract extension through the sprint season. Schuster said what happens after remains unclear for both Muller and the club, and that the team is focused on ending its 2026 campaign strongly and preparing for early 2027.
“People should know we’re here, we’re staying in the sprint season,” Schuster said. “So the club is not going yet, and nothing is happening yet … And the only way you can show us your support and help is buying tickets and come to the games.”
