Peter Andrew Patrick Statham, 27, has been re-arrested following an alleged return to a Save-On-Foods location on Pandora Avenue in Victoria.
The Story
A suspect accused in a violent attack on a Victoria grocery store manager was re-arrested after allegedly returning to the same Save-On-Foods location on Pandora Avenue.
Pattison Food Group president Jamie Nelson said that on Friday the suspect “walked into Pandora” and the company immediately called 911.
Nelson said the suspect is known to the store’s team and that Vic Police arrived quickly.
Peter Andrew Patrick Statham, 27, remains in custody pending a bail hearing after his re-arrest.
Statham was charged with theft, assault causing bodily harm, and robbery in connection with the Sept. 19 incident at Save-On-Foods on Pandora Avenue.
Nelson said the alleged assault occurred after the store manager approached a person who had been banned for shoplifting and told him he was not allowed to be in the store.
Nelson said the suspect “turned and punched the store manager in the head three times,” knocking the manager onto the ground and cracking his cheekbone, adding that there was blood and that the suspect then left.
Victoria Police said in an email that the employee was hospitalized with serious injuries while a suspect was arrested nearby and later released on conditions during an ongoing investigation.
Nelson said in an open letter to media published Monday that his store manager lost consciousness, sustained a concussion, and suffered significant injuries that would likely require surgical treatment.
Statham was remanded in custody Friday evening, with a bail hearing possible on Monday, Oct. 5.
