The Story
A seven-year-old girl was taken to hospital after being hit by a car in East Vancouver’s Grandview-Woodland area on Thursday morning, the Vancouver Police Department said.
Police said officers were in the area of East Pender Street and Victoria Drive when they saw the child trying to cross the street mid-block between parked vehicles.
The VPD said the child “ran into the roadway and was struck by a vehicle travelling at approximately 20 km/h,” adding the driver “was unable to see the child before she entered the roadway.”
Police said the girl had been trying to reach her parents’ vehicle across the street.
The VPD said the driver remained at the scene and cooperated.
Police said the girl suffered minor injuries and has since been released from hospital.
