TransLink says Bruno Mars’ voice will play periodically at Stadium–Chinatown Station on five dates that match his B.C. Place concerts.
The Story
Bruno Mars is set to become the first musical artist to voice a SkyTrain station announcement, with his voice scheduled to play periodically at Stadium–Chinatown Station on five dates that coincide with his Vancouver concerts at B.C. Place.
TransLink says the announcements will run on Oct. 14, 16, 17, 20 and 21, timed to each of Mars’ scheduled shows.
In a statement, TransLink CEO Kevin Quinn said, “Most people don’t expect to hear Bruno Mars while they’re heading to work, school, or a concert. That’s what makes this so much fun, because it brings the concert experience to SkyTrain customers,” adding that the program also helps generate advertising revenue to support transit service across the region.
The collaboration is said to involve Warner Music Canada, according to TransLink.
TransLink also noted that while Mars would be the first musician to feature in a SkyTrain station announcement, he would not be the first celebrity to do so; Vancouver local and actor Seth Rogen featured in 2018, and Canadian soccer legend Christine Sinclair lent her voice during FIFA World Cup 2026.
TransLink had teased the collaboration before the announcement using emojis representing six of his most popular songs, which fans interpreted as “Locked Out of Heaven,” “Treasure,” “Marry You,” “Leave the Door Open,” “Talking to the Moon,” and “Die with a Smile.”
